This notice explains how JobEsperus processes your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG).

1. Who is responsible (controller)

2. What we process, and why

• Browsing job listings — no account and no personal data required. Your language and chosen city are kept in your browser (local storage) only.
• Account — your email address and authentication data, to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
• Your documents — the CVs, motivation letters and files you upload or generate, plus your saved searches and the jobs you save, hide or mark as seen. Used only to provide the tools you asked for. Art. 6(1)(b).
• AI assistant — the text you send to the assistant and the sessions you choose to save. Art. 6(1)(b).
• Payments — processed by Stripe; we receive your subscription status, not your full card details. Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) — tax records.
• Usage analytics — a privacy-preserving visit count with a coarse country derived from your browser time zone (never your IP address), plus referrer and page. No cross-site tracking, no advertising cookies. Legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f).

3. Special-category data in CVs

A CV or letter may contain special-category data under Art. 9 GDPR (for example a photo, health information, religious or trade-union affiliation). Where you choose to include it, we process it only to provide the tools, on the basis of your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time by deleting the document. You are free to leave such information out.

4. The AI — where your data goes

The AI features run on our own server, located in Austria. Your CV, letters and assistant messages are not sent to any third-party AI provider and are not used to train anyone’s AI model. The content is processed to produce your result and is not retained on the AI server; a session is stored only if you save it to your account.

5. Processors and hosting

We rely on a small number of processors under Art. 28 GDPR data-processing agreements:

• Google Firebase — authentication, database and file storage, hosted in the EU (europe-west1 / EU multi-region).
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Resend — sending the emails you ask for (job alerts, account emails).

Where a processor transfers data outside the EU/EEA, it does so under an adequacy decision or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

Account and document data are kept while your account exists. When you delete your account we delete your documents and profile; records required by tax law are kept for the statutory period. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email jobs@jobesperus.com to exercise any right. You may also complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde, dsb.gv.at).

8. Cookies and local storage

We use only what the service needs: your login session, your language and city preference, and the storage set by Firebase and Stripe to keep you signed in and process payments. We set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

1. Who we are

JobEsperus is operated by Martin Buessler, Geblergasse 63/9, 1170 Vienna, Austria (jobs@jobesperus.com; see the Impressum).

2. What JobEsperus is

JobEsperus is a software tool for finding work: it aggregates job listings published on public job boards, lets you search and filter them, sends alerts, and provides document-writing tools (a CV editor, a motivation-letter writer and an AI assistant). Every listing links out to the original source, where the application actually happens.

JobEsperus is not an employment agency (Arbeitsvermittler). We do not place candidates, hold no vacancies or hiring mandates, do not contact employers on your behalf or pass your data to them, and receive no payment from employers. Applying to a job, and the outcome, is entirely between you and the employer.

3. Free use and paid membership

Browsing and searching job listings is free and needs no account. A paid membership (€8 per month) unlocks the tools — job alerts, the CV editor, the motivation-letter writer and the AI assistant. New members start with a 7-day free trial.

4. Trial, billing and cancellation

• The 7-day trial is free. If you do not cancel before it ends, it becomes a paid membership at €8 per month, charged via Stripe until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation stops the next payment and your membership runs to the end of the paid period. Cancelling is no harder than subscribing.
• As a small business (Kleinunternehmer) we charge no VAT.

5. Right of withdrawal (consumers)

As a consumer you have a 14-day right of withdrawal under the Austrian Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act (FAGG), without giving a reason, running from when the contract is concluded. To withdraw, send a clear statement to jobs@jobesperus.com; you may use the model withdrawal form. The free trial is never charged.

Digital services: if you ask us to start the paid service during the withdrawal period and expressly acknowledge that you thereby lose the right of withdrawal once it has been fully provided, the right lapses accordingly (§ 18 FAGG).

6. The AI tools — please read

You are interacting with an AI system. The CV, letter and assistant features generate text automatically, and that output may be inaccurate or incomplete. Always review anything before you rely on it or send it to an employer; you are responsible for the content of your application. The AI runs on our own server in Austria (see the Privacy Policy).

7. Your responsibilities

Use the service lawfully, keep your login secure, and upload only content you are entitled to use. Do not scrape, resell or disrupt the service.

8. Liability

Listings come from third-party job boards and are provided “as is”; we do not guarantee their accuracy, availability, or that a job is still open. To the extent permitted by law we are liable only for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence; your mandatory consumer-protection rights are unaffected.

9. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and will post the new version here with its date; material changes affecting members will be notified. Austrian law applies; for consumers, the mandatory protections of your country of residence remain unaffected.
